Real Estate & Entrepreneurship - My Journey as an Entrepreneur

January was a month of growth for me. A month full of new challenges, full of learning, but also full of conscious decisions. Because while I continue to position myself as an entrepreneur and consultant , I simultaneously founded a new company (together with a partner): AMÜ Immobilienverwaltung - a modern, sustainable and service-oriented property management company.
Why? Because my own experience with property management has been anything but good.
From Disappointed Customer to Entrepreneur
I have certainly had some contact with property management - but more as an annoyed customer. I rent out a property myself, and the management I worked with at the time was not really modern, customer-oriented and sustainable - in fact, the exact opposite. And this is exactly where my way of thinking as an entrepreneur comes in:
If something doesn’t work well, I make it better.
I share this conviction with my business partner, with whom I jointly establish AMÜ Immobilienverwaltung We both had bad experiences with traditional administrations and were convinced that there was another way.
It requires:
✅ Better communication with owners and tenants.
✅ More transparency and modern customer service.
✅ Sustainable solutions for property owners.
So we didn’t hesitate for long and decided: We’ll build a property management company that does this better.
Why I did an apprenticeship anyway
Of course, I could have just read up on property management. But when I do something, I do it right. That's why I completed the course to become a qualified property manager - as a basis for the next level: training to become a certified WEG manager for Germany.
Ten intensive days, packed with knowledge, exams and a trip to Hameln. It was anything but a walk in the park - especially when you are developing other projects and have customers at the same time.
Nevertheless, it was exactly the right decision. Because I not only learned how legal and technical processes work in property management, but also that many principles can be transferred from other areas, and that was a bit of a surprise.
Leadership, business – and real estate? More connections than you think.
What particularly fascinated me was that many concepts from business and leadership can be directly transferred to property management.
An example? Communication.
In property management, clear and empathetic communication is essential - whether with owners, tenants or tradesmen. It is exactly the same in business and leadership: without clear communication, uncertainty, frustration and inefficiency arise.
Or Maslow's hierarchy of needs , which I know from leadership development. Property management is also about fulfilling basic needs: security, trust, reliability.
For me, these are the most exciting moments in learning: when I realise that everything is somehow connected and repeats itself. It always seems to me as if a big picture is slowly coming together, piece by piece.
Entrepreneurship means getting things done
I am often asked: “Why do you do all of this at the same time? Property management, business consulting, leadership – do they even fit together?”
Yes. And how.
My business consulting is based on my practical experience as a leader, manager AND also as an entrepreneur . I support companies and managers not only with theories, but with real practical knowledge - both from my time in a global corporation and my knowledge from my own ventures.
And that is precisely why property management is not something completely new – but simply another building block in my entrepreneurial journey.
Because in the end, entrepreneurship is exactly that for me:
🔹 Identify problems and create solutions.
🔹 Acquire new knowledge and generate added value from it.
🔹 Do things instead of just talking about them.
January was a month of progress for me – and further proof that if you want to grow, you should keep diving into new areas.
My conclusion: Learning is movement - there is no movement in the comfort zone.
If I have learned one thing in the last few weeks, it is this: It is worth trying new things.
Not just because you acquire knowledge, but because everything you learn will sooner or later be useful somewhere else.
📌 Have you learned something completely new recently? What experiences have you had with big changes? Feel free to write to me – I'm excited to hear your story! 🚀
